Parents / Guardians

Congratulations on your student’s acceptance to the University of Mississippi. At the Center for Student Success and First-Year Experience (CSSFYE), we are committed to helping your student successfully transition from high school senior to college freshman. Our philosophy is that new freshmen have more in common with being a freshman, than any other category he/she may fall under during the first year. Therefore, our center is able to help all freshmen with any academic or non-academic issue they may encounter during the transition to college.

Parent support is critical to student success. We strive to make all parents/guardians aware of university policies, procedures, important dates, and campus resources. The Center is committed to working with parents/guardians to ensure student success. Research indicates that students who have a strong support system both at the university and back home are more likely to persist and graduate than those who do not. Parents are encouraged to serve as a resource to their freshman, while allowing the student to have a successful first year. CSSFYE Academic Advisors and Administrators are committed to working with students and parents to ensure our new freshmen have a successful first year. I look forward to working with you and your student as he/she experiences an exciting first year at The University of Mississippi.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like additional information or assistance.
