Advising: Undeclared Students

The Center for Student Success and First-Year Experience offers professional advising to all undeclared students. Entering the University of Mississippi as an undeclared/undecided major gives you the chance to explore your interests and majors before you make a decision. The largest cohort of entering freshmen is undeclared, so being unsure on a major is not uncommon. Your professional academic advisor will guide you through taking courses that fit your interests to help you choose a major. The University requires that you choose a major by the time you reach 45 credit hours.

The following links will direct you to a list of all MAJORS and MINORS offered by the University:

Another helpful tool is the Choosing a Major database from the College of Liberal Arts.

In addition, the CSSFYE offers EDLD 201 “Career Decision Making” each spring semester. EDLD 201 focuses on helping undeclared students realize their strengths as well as possible career paths. The course is broken down into several modules including: Introduction, Self-Assessment, World of Work Research, Career Outlook from majors offered by our university, and Academic Advising through the transition phase.

You must obtain permission to enroll in this course. Contact Dr. Travis Hitchcock at travis@olemiss.edu for more information.
