What is the Academic Probation Symposium?
The purpose of this symposium: To bring together like-minded professionals in the field of higher education to discuss academic support at their university/college and to build a group to network with throughout the year.
Topics to include: Academic Probation; Planning an Academic Probation Course; Academic Suspension; Mentoring Students on Probation and Suspension; Research in Academics tied to Probation and Suspension and Dismissal; Assisting Students returning from Academic Dismissal; etc.
Registration Fees
Professional Staff Members $55, day of symposium
Graduate Students/Assistants $30, day of symposium
NEW FOR 2022! Need help in developing or revamping your course/curriculum for a probationary or suspension type course at your institution? Join us for a pre-conference event on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and hear from our staff/instructors on assisting you in creating your own text (or use ours), creating your own curriculum (or use parts of ours), etc. and get more leadership assistance with what you are trying to do for your program and your students. You will leave the pre-conference event with a fully laid out plan to take back to your institution for your probationary or suspension course and still have Academic Support Programs at the University of Mississippi here to answer questions and guide you through this process.

Call for Presentation Proposals 2022
Want to speak at the 2022 event? Do you have a presentation geared towards any of the topics above or want to host a roundtable type event? Fill out the presentation proposal and let’s see what comes of it! (Feedback from an initial survey found the following topics were desired: proactive support for students on probation or suspension; reaching unresponsive students – best practices; interventions for academic support; tracking at-risk students; mentoring and/or coaching programs; motivation and encouragement; mandated engagement; etc.)
